What are the different types of off shore outsourcing?

When it comes to offshore outsourcing there are four basic types which are:

ITO – Information Technology Outsourcing

Information Technology Outsourcing or ITO is when a company outsources its computer or Internet related work, programming for example, to external companies. It is used in reference to Business Process Outsourcing or BPO, which is the outsourcing of the work that does not require much of technical skills. Off shoring

Now, off shoring is pretty much the same as regular Outsourcing, it’s just that off shoring means that you seek services or products ‘outside’ the country in which the business resides. What are the Myths to outsourcing?

Myth no1: Outsourcing will solve all your problems?

I was a Call Centre Agent who dealt with a plethora of topics; orders, payments, cancellations of accounts, fraud even and it took me 6 weeks to learn the computer system. Now, when the company started to get greedy they started outsourcing the call centre work over to India. This resulted in extremely poor customer service and absolute lack of knowledge when it came to what the company did. [Read more...]

Disadvantages of Outsourcing

So, there you have some of the main advantages to outsourcing, and I think we can both agree the advantages seem fantastic! Almost a case of “problem solved, lets outsource” but, as with anything there has to be disadvantages too. It’s all about weighing up the pros and the cons, but what are the disadvantages?
